Vineyard Manager John Molenhouse’s meticulous leaf-thinning early in the growing season allowed the grapes to absorb more sunlight, resulting in concentrated flavors and a rich, vibrant color. Serve this young Merlot with lamb chops or roast pork with grilled vegetables or a lovely charcuterie board. Vintage Notes:

For the 2021 season, our vineyard manager started stripping the leaves from the fruiting zone right after fruit set. This gave the fruit a lot more sun and wind exposure, which yields thicker, darker skins, as well as cleaner fruit due to the airflow. An additional benefit was firmer fruit when it goes in the tank increasing the complexity of flavors when its time for crush at the winery.
